my story

Thank you for visiting Lavender Moon! Here’s my story about my journey into the world of healing and support. I grew up in Berkeley, California, and was raised by my lovely single mother, nanny, and grandparents. I always had a deep-rooted love for mamas and babies. It was unexplainable to many, but so real to me. As soon as I was old enough to provide childcare, I did, and still do, but now in the form of postpartum support. During high school and college, I worked in childcare and education, and was planning on getting my masters in teaching. The summer before my junior year of college, I went through a traumatic hiking accident, which left me concussed and “out of commission” for some time. This experience opened doors of holistic healing for me that I have gladly stepped into and don’t see myself leaving anytime soon. Going through this, I discovered the power of herbalism, acupuncture, energy healing, and many more modalities! With the support of friends, family, healers, doctors and the newfound mindset that “my body has the wisdom to heal itself,” with intentional support, I did heal. I then returned to college to finish my degree in Anthropology, with emphases in Medical and Feminist Anthropology.

Upon graduating, I felt called to see the world, so I booked a one-way ticket to Southeast Asia with no itinerary. I was excited for my free-flow adventure. After a week of being there, I fell through a dock and suffered injuries that soon manifested into septic shock, and I found myself in a Cambodian hospital for weeks. After two major surgeries, re-learning to walk, and doctors deeming me “stable,” I flew home and was put again on a deep healing journey. I didn’t understand why these near death experiences kept showing up for me, and in such a short period of time. But, again, I used resources I had gathered from my first incident, and I took advantage of the great deal of holistic offerings in the Bay Area and healed, very quickly. I was then confident that I could heal myself naturally, but I could not get the “why” out of my head. This was when I enrolled in my first doula training course, and everything finally came together: I knew that I had found my calling! People say that birth is the closest thing to death, and I am now comfortable in these depths.

My experiences gave me insights and much wisdom around the human experience, and a deep calling to share these gifts with others, especially birthing people. Having gone through these two experiences, I discovered the importance of support and human resilience, and how impactful it is to tell your story in a safe, sacred container. I find great joy in supporting people and families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum periods, as it can be challenging in these transitional times, but doesn’t have to be, and that’s why I’m here. If you’ve made it this far, thanks for reading! Please feel free to reach out to me about anything at all, I am always happy to talk with you.
